Ceramics connect to yourself

Sleeping on time and waking up early, makes a tremendous difference to our day and can really set the tone for the whole day. Once I get up in the morning, I head to my kitchen, switch on the kettle and get my favorite mug ready with a teabag and some jaggery. By the time the water starts boiling, I find myself admiring my ceramic tea, coffee and sugar canisters arranged on my wooden tray. And each day, when I prepare my tea, I feel so happy using them. I pat myself on the back for choosing the right kind of containers for my kitchen and using something which is made of clay ( and not plastic). I imagine myself using them for many years and not disposing them soon. And that's the reason one should choose even simple products for the kitchen very carefully.
Once the water is ready and the tea bag is soaked, I add a dash of milk to the tea and then I quietly go and sit in my living room. I prefer not to switch on  any lights in the living room as I want to experience the dawn and faint light from outside. Sitting in pin drop silence is like meditation for me.
I open my living room window for the fresh air to rush in and if it's chilly I wrap up myself in a shawl. After that I completely immerse myself into sipping my tea slowly and savouring its taste. I love holding my mug close to myself and feeling the warmth. I feel that it's the time of the day, when I am very relaxed , my body is well-rested and my mind is very clear. Sometimes we may have worries and there would be things to be done. But at this time of the morning, I don't let myself think about them. It's a complete pause.
The whole morning ritual of preparing my tea in my favorite ceramic mug jumpstarts my day. Those early moments of complete stillness can help me brave through the toughest of the days. And each day of using the right utensils, mugs, canisters etc in your kitchen can go a long way in keeping your kitchen organized as well as clutter-free. You would discard less items and the ones that you kept, you would use them lovingly. This is something which I have learnt from my mother. For example, if she needed a new set of mugs for tea, she would patiently go through the shops to pick up the right colors and designs. She would be very clear that how many mugs she would need. The shopping was never done in a hurry and there was never a compromise when choosing things. It was the minimalistic lifestyle and only buying things that were needed at home that gave me important lessons for life. Ceramic mugs bought with so much thought and care, lasted longer with her. They were her friends and she treated them well. She enjoyed their company on both difficult and easy days. That's why I feel one should always buy good ceramic products for the kitchen.
